The Piazza del Popolo project is based on the concept of shared space, a large area that connects different fronts, just as the square does on an urban scale between various parts of the city. On this mineral surface, a series of plastic and sculptural objects, inspired by local art and history, redefine the dimension of the square, lightening it and interrupting its continuity, thus breaking the traditional idea of the square as a horizontal public space. Five large seats, five different scenarios each offer a particular use and perspective of the space. The alignments or misalignments these elements create with the surroundings allow for drawing an identity that is no longer that of an area between two streets. The square becomes an atlas of elements: a circular seat, a podium, a ziggurat, a flower, and a small square within the square, which, thanks to their iconic shape and disorienting scale, allow citizens to take part in unexpected moments of public life. These elements address the peculiar details of the building front. Along with the two wooded strips and the change in material treatment of the ground, the gaze is guided towards a hybrid perspective, always different. Shadows, the color of foliage in different seasons, the height of trees and objects themselves shape a dynamic and ever-changing urban space.
