Contrasto is the outcome of a territorial mapping workshop in which 10 participants, drive by graphic designers, illustrators and screen-printing craftsmen, made a geo-graphic atlas designed to represent in a different way a territory rich in symbols and places that, due to marginalization and depopulation, risk being forgotten. The map represent the Anello Bello, a trekking route that connects the municipalities of Castelletto Uzzone (CN) and Prunetto (CN). The 13 km long route shows different levels and types of landscape of the Alta Langa, results of the historic coexistence between man and nature. The map translates the complicated relationship between the two through the contrast between two colors, blue and red: screen-printed together, these overlap in a pattern of geometries and symbols that can only be read with the use of two colored lenses. The places, such as historic buildings, natural areas, rural farmhouses and small viewpoints, as well as being marked on the map, are described in the brochure to help the walker to find them in the terraced landscape, covered by the abandoned woods.

Contrasto has been selected for the exhibition Italy: A New Collective Landscape curated by Angela Rui with Elisabetta Donati de Conti and Matilde Losi, from April 4th to September 10th, 2023, at the ADI Design Museum in Milan and from Jenuary 19th to May 19, 2024, at the Hong Kong Design Institute.
